Description
Zambia’s flag, adopted in 1964 and modified as recently as 1996, consists of a green field backing a vertical tribar ensign of red, black, and orange at the right. Above the tribar floats the nation’s coat of arms; and orange eagle. The country’s lush vegetation is represented by the green background. The red stripe of the tribar represents Zambia’s struggle for independence. The center black stripe symbolizes the Zambian people, and the right-hand orange stripe stands for the nation’s mineral wealth – especially copper.
