UNITED ARAB EMIRATES Four stripes comprise the flag of the United Arab Emirates three equally sized horizontal stripes (green at the top, white at the middle, and black at the bottom) with a single vertical red stripe at the banners left side. Adopted in 1971 and believed to be based on the Arab Revolt Flag which was created in 1916, the flags colors of red, white, black and green are called the pan-Arab colors and have been historically linked to the Arab people and Islamic faith for centuries.
