Nigers tribar flag, consisting of three equally sized horizontal stripes (Orange, representing the Sahara Desert, at the top white, symbolizing purity, in the middle green, indicating lush vegetation, at the bottom) was adopted in 1959. At the center of the middle white stripe rests an orange circle representing the sun.
