Description
The national flag of Ghana, adopted in 1966, is a horizontal tribar consisting of three equally sized stripes. The top red stripe represents blood spilt in the struggle for independence; the middle yellow stripe symbolizes the country’s mineral wealth; and the bottom green stands for the nation’s vegetation and fertility. Centered in the yellow stripe is a large black five point star, symbolizing the freedom of the African people.
