ETHIOPIA Ethiopias flag, adopted in 1996, consists of three horizontal stripes of equal width; green - for land (top), yellow - for peace (middle), and red for strength (bottom). Resting at its center is an emblem consisting of a gold five point star (representing diversity and unity) with sun rays (symbolizing prosperity) floating on a circular blue (representing peace) background.
