The Barbados flag, adopted in 1966, consists of three equally sized vertical stripes; blue representing the sea and the sky - on the left and the right, and yellow/gold symbolizing the sand - in the middle. Floating at center of the yellow/gold stripe is a black trident representing the three principles of the democracy.
